Capture Desktop Elements

Capture an element before using it in a desktop click, input, or other element-based command. In the sidebar, open Element Library and select Capture New Elements.

Captured elements appear in the library. Select an element to use it in a command. Hover over an element to display the edit and delete buttons.

After capture mode starts, move the pointer over the desktop application. The detected element is outlined in green; press Ctrl+left-click to capture it.

Capture Similar Desktop Elements

Use similar-element capture for repeated items such as contacts in a list. Drag Get Similar Desktop Elements into the workflow and select Select Elements > Capture New Elements. Ctrl+left-click the first item, then Ctrl+left-click a second similar item. The element-property editor opens after the second capture.

Edit Element Attributes

Select every node required to locate the element reliably.

tip

• A captured WeChat input field may include the current contact's name. Clear that attribute so the locator also works in other conversations.
• WeChat 4.0 does not expose capturable elements. Update to WeChat 4.1.5 or later. If capture still fails, enable Windows Narrator.
• Select meaningful nodes and attributes, such as Item, TABLE, list, or item for product-list entries.
• Do not select apparently generated attributes such as wpoey8, rpdrk4, or 1nzqfx.

Select a node name to edit it, for example to change DocumentControl to GroupControl. Use Add to add a node or attribute.

After editing, select Verify Element. A normal locator should match exactly one element. If it matches multiple elements, refine the selected nodes and attributes. Similar-element locators are expected to match multiple elements.
